June 12, 2009:
Fall
crop planting & layout
-
Students planted
tomatoes, basil, potatoes, and squash during morning
recesses. To protect these crops so we can harvest them
this fall for the Thurston County Food
Bank, we will be placing
this sign in the garden.

- June 5, 2009:
Spring garden harvest party!
-
We surprised ourselves and surpassed our
expectations on Friday, June 5, as hundreds of
students harvested lettuce, radishes, and herbs
during the morning recesses. We washed up enough
to serve all students and staff at lunch and
STILL had plenty to donate to the Thurston
County Food Bank: 40 pounds of gorgeous organic
lettuce and 23 pounds of white and red radishes.

Roosevelt Enrichment
Activities Program
- Pizza Garden!
- Thursdays, May 14th
and May 21st, 3:30 to 4:45
- Roosevelt parents Ginny
Codd and Jenifer Thacher, avid gardeners and pizza lovers, will work
with children to create a [pizza-shaped garden at the Roosevelt Dreams
garden. The garden will contain vegetables and herbs such as tomato and
basil. The children will design their pizza garden and plant their
chosen vegetables and herbs. We will also create a "pizza" of artwork to
mark the pizza garden site. In the fall, Phase 2 will be offered where
we will harvest our pizza ingredients and make and bake a tasty
Roosevelt Dreams Garden pizza!
