Mission Creek Nature
Park Needs Our Help
Work parties are fun
and productive; we need them, and we'll keep having them. But with
everyone's busy schedule, and the typical Pacific NW overgrowth of vegetation (especially in the summer), we need help year round in tending to the park between work parties to keep the trails from becoming
impassable, and to keep the park clean with its heavy use.
The Mission Creek
Nature Park Stewards are therefore initiating an "Adopt-a-Trail"
program. Pick a section of trail, get attached to it, keep it clean,
passable, safe and pleasant for walking. Click here to see a map of the sections of trail; look at the list below to find a section available to "adopt". Then send an email to Tom at badgert@earthlink.com to sign up for a section.

When you do your work is up to you,
we only ask that you do your best to keep the trail clean and open to its intended
width. Work on your own, or
together with friends; have a marathon work-out or do a little at a time... whatever suits you. Have fun and know your time and efforts will be appreciated by all. As always, we are grateful to you for picking up any unattended dog poop or garbage you might see, and
mudding over graffiti you encounter.
Thank you for
enjoying and helping care for our neighborhood park!

Model Rain Garden constructed October 2010
Walk on over to see this special rain garden built by your neighbors on Fir Street (between Pine and Yew). With help from plant specialists from our neighborhood and beyond, we created what will become a small island of wildlife habitat with visual appeal. We're hoping this rain garden becomes a prototype for continued storm water management improvements.
- Mission Creek Nature Park is a neighborhood gem with
old-growth fir trees, a salmon-capable stream, and unlimited opportunities to
connect with nature in the middle of our neighborhood. We hope you enjoy this unique resource in our
neighborhood and take a few minutes to learn more about how to keep it a clean and welcoming
place for everyone in our neighborhood.

A growing community on Facebook is also coming together to share ideas about
protecting and enjoying our park.
