Hello
Roosevelt
Parents
and
Garden
Enthusiasts,
The
Roosevelt
back-to-school
barbecue
is on
Tuesday,
Sept.
7th!
Hoards
of new
and
returning
parents
will be
viewing
the
school
with
eager
eyes,
many for
the
first
time. As
parents
walk up
to the
school
and
around
the
grounds,
they
can't
help but
notice
the
Gardens!
A
dedicated
crew has
been
tending
and
watering
the
Gardens
over
summer. It
is a
huge
task and
we are
extremely
grateful
to those
who have
taken
time
away
from
their
own
gardens
and
interests
to keep
the
Roosevelt
Gardens
thriving! Special
thanks
goes out
to
Cynthia
Bern for
organizing
the
watering/weeding
schedule,
Melinda
Spencer
for
filling
in most
every
available
opening
to tend
the
gardens
as well
as Erika
Gries,
Anne
Fritzel,
Pam
Turlove
and
others
who have
nurtured
the
plants
and
pulled
rogue
weeds. We
also had
help
from the
Thurston
County
Food
Bank,
Karen
Ray and
Food
Bank
"Gleaners"
who made
sure our
summer
crops
made it
to
hungry
mouths
via the
Food
Bank.
We would
like to
welcome
and
invite
parents
to join
in
Roosevelt
Garden
activities.
At the
barbecue
we will
hand out
postcards
and
small
packets
of
seeds.
Garden
Ambassadors
will be
around
welcoming
all and
offering
tours of
the
gardens.
(Contact
Melinda
or
Jenifer
if you
are
interested
in
passing
out the
postcards
and
seeds).
We hope
you will
include
the
Gardens
in your
volunteer
activities
this
year at
Roosevelt. Please
contact
Jenifer
Thacher
to be
included
on the
Garden
Committee
email
list.
Cheers,
